Fallon & Byrne

Fallon & Byrne, the Dublin food empire, renowned for it’s commitment to supplying delicious food and proudly curating an incredible collection of quality products has just opened a huge 10,000sq ft food hall close to the city centre.

We have been working closely with them over the past couple of years on a brand refresh and the introduction of a new vibrant range of packaging for their extensive food offering. For the new location, we were briefed to create a signage system, from the exterior and interior high level right down to counter ticketing.

The mammoth store houses a cheese and charcuterie counter, dedicated butchers and fishmongers, wood-fired pizza oven, freshly made pasta counter, a crêpe and waffle area and an authentic Italian gelato selection housed in a specially adapted Fiat Cinquecento.

Fiona McHugh, the M.D. of Fallon & Byrne, has attention to detail second to none and an abundance of ideas and inspiration. We worked to harness her enthusiasm and ethos, allowing it to inform our designs.

Fallon & Byrne is also widely known for their tone of voice and witty, tongue-in-cheek commentary, and we wanted this to filter through into some of the signage. Bright and poppy neons were used to highlight certain areas, with playful installations such as an irreverent ice cream structure in the store window to entice customers in.

Working closely alongside Fionnuala Hayes of Howley Hayes Architects, we were able to use structural elements from the building and incorporate these with the formats of the signage. The resulting aesthetic is a seamless link between the architectural, the informative and the Fallon & Byrne ethos.

Fallon & Byrne Rathmines is a must visit next time you are in Dublin!

“It looks gorgeous and the signage is working brilliantly. Really top class. Thanks for all your hard work. It was worth it! Fab reaction to it.”
