The beginning of 2014 has been extremely exciting for us here at Allies Design Studio, we have had the pleasure of continuing creative relationships with some of our stablished clients as well as beginning journeys with some inspiring brand new ones.

And as Spring turns to Summer we are looking forward 

69 Colebrooke Row

Located on a backstreet in Islington, The Bar With No Name, fondly known as 69 Colebrooke Row, is an institution within the cocktail world. The bar, founded by famed mixed drinks specialist Tony Conigliaro, combines elegance, style and charm to create a 1950s film noir atmosphere. Our task was to translate this into the bars new identity, and we relished in the opportunity. Using imagery of their iconic lantern that marks the bars location we created a clean, classic identity that celebrates the atomospheric 69 Colebrooke Row.

Also, watch this space for the 2nd 69 Colebrooke Row cocktail recipe book deisgn by us, out in June this year to celebrate their 5th anniversary!

Fish House

Fish House is an independent, family run restaurant situated right next to Victoria Park in East London. Serving fresh fish daily this is no ordinary fish and chip shop. Alongside the traditional takeaway area, there is a fantastic fish restaurant serving up a huge variety of seasonal fish straight from Billingsgate market. Serving everything from monkfish to mussels, the restaurant required an identity that represented the wide range of seafood on offer. Using clean, elegant typography that is reminiscent of the writing seen on boats, we created a frame to showcase some beautiful, detailed illustrations of a variety of fish that can seen on the menus of Fish House. 


Bio-tiful Dairy

Bio-tiful Dairy produces uniquely versatile and healthy dairy drinks made with the best organic British milk and centuries-old and authentic recipes.The dairy was set up in the UK to create the delicious organic cultured milk drinks, Kefir and Riazhenka, widely consumed in Russia and Eastern Europe. The beauty of these drinks is that they are so pure, authentic and nutritious, which we felt wasn’t reflected completely in the current packaging. Our solution was to create a label that incorporated friendly handwritten typography and illustrations, reminiscent of old milk bottle labels, bringing to mind wholesome imagery of dairies.


Random House BBC Books

We are extremely honoured to be asked to design our third Great British Bake Off recipe book for Random House BBC Books; The Big Book of Baking. It is very exciting process in creating these books, from art directing photoshoots to visualising the brands values and voice, we love working with this great team.

This book will coincide with the fifth series of the Great British Bake Off, which will be aired on BBC One this summer. 


Brindisa Food Rooms

In early 2014, Brindisa Food Rooms, will be opening in the heart of Brixton. Part-shop, part-bar, Brindisa Food Rooms will be a culmination of what Brindisa already offers at Borough Market teamed with a simple but extended menu, set under two railway arches. Our brief was to create an identity that was distilled down to the very essence of what Brindisa is. The result was a clean, paired back logo, with the bull free from its circular background, standing strong above minimal, pure typography.
